$9.6 M in Economic Spin-Offs in the Baie-des-Chaleurs

9 June 2017

New Richmond, June 6, 2017 – More than $1 million in investments in the Baie-des-Chaleurs community created an estimated $9.6 million in spin-offs in the territory in 2016-2017. These are the results announced at the Baie-des-Chaleurs Société d’aide au développement de la collectivité (SADC) at its Annual General Meeting this morning in New Richmond.

In addition to being rich in projects, this year coincided with the updating of the strategic plan.

“In consultation with our members and partners, we were able to identify the main issues facing the territory and to identify ways of improving our services. As a result, we were able to renew our mission, our vision, our values and our areas of intervention in order to be more oriented towards the needs of the territory’s organizations,” explained Daniel Gasse, President of the Baie-des-Chaleurs SADC.

In addition to the financial services and support provided to entrepreneurs in the region, two programs, Tactic Emploi and the Youth Internships program, administered by the Baie-des-Chaleurs SADC with a total funding contribution of $223,208, enabled the hiring of 19 young people aged 30 years and under in the territory.

“We are very pleased to be able to contribute to the recruitment of skilled workers through programs that encourage the hiring of new graduates and enable them to gain work experience. These programs create new jobs and encourage the hiring of young people,” said Lyne Lebrasseur, Executive Director of the Baie-des-Chaleurs SADC.
